How we score

Every spec is scored 0–100 against a calibrated reference range (for example battery capacity from 3,000 to 6,500 mAh) — not just against the opponent, so scores stay stable across matchups. Camera quality uses an independent testing score, not raw megapixels. Categories are then weighted: Performance 30%, Display 20%, Camera 20%, Battery 20%, Price 10%, and curved so the best phone in our database lands near 95/100 — like school grades. A phone must lead a category by a clear margin to claim it. The phone that wins the most categories — or scores clearly higher overall — takes the verdict. Specs are sourced from manufacturer pages and re-verified at least monthly; each page shows its last-updated date.

Frequently asked questions

Which phone is better, iPhone or Android?

There is no universal winner — it depends on your priorities. iPhones offer a simpler, longer-supported ecosystem; Android flagships win on charging speed, zoom reach and price flexibility. Use our comparisons to see category-by-category winners, then decide which categories you care about most.

What should I compare when buying a phone?

Focus on five categories: performance (chipset and RAM), display (sharpness, refresh rate, brightness), camera (main, selfie, zoom and video), battery (capacity and charging speed) and price. PhoneCompare scores every phone 0–100 in each category and picks an overall winner.

How does PhoneCompare score phones?

Every spec is scored 0–100 against calibrated reference ranges — not just against the opponent, so a great phone stays a great phone in any matchup. Categories are then weighted: Performance 30%, Display 20%, Camera 20%, Battery 20%, Price 10%. Finally, category scores are curved so the best phone in our database lands near 95/100 — like school grades. The phone that wins the most categories — or scores clearly higher overall — takes the verdict.

Can I compare more than two phones at once?

Yes. Pick up to four phones in the comparison builder and see them side by side — every spec row highlights the best value, and the verdict covers the whole group.

How often are the specs updated?

Device pages show a 'last updated' date. We re-verify specs against manufacturer pages after major announcements and at least monthly.
